Bringing it down a notch

Love is kind; it does not envy, it does not boast. It is not proud, it is not rude, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices in truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love, but the greatest of these is love.

-Corinthians 1:13

Today, we lose a friend. Aramancer was always helpful, always calm and was perhaps synonymous with the best things in this guild. A good sense of humor and a smile that you could see even through typed green text, he managed to comport himself with dignity and class while never letting it turn to arrogance.

On Monday night, shortly after we pushed through to Kel Thuzad and claimed victory, Aramancer went to bed. In his sleep, his blood sugar went low enough to stop his heart.

He is survived by a wife, two daughters and a son. His daughter told me today that he was perhaps impractical, putting everyone else before himself. As we generally understand it, people who put more value in others than they do themselves are by nature of being the rarer and more valuable by far. If I can truly state one quintessential characteristic of Aramancer's, it is that and that alone. The man was uniquely selfless in a selfish world, and we are poorer for having lost him, but richer for having known him and taken from him his examples and lessons, which very much so exemplify what it is to truly love.

Rest in Peace Aramancer. You will be continually missed.

New Year, New Kills...

As the saying goes, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take. So the Sovereignite collective decided to add some more notches to our belt.

First things first, we steamrolled Abom Wing and layed waste to Heroic Naxxaramus(25 man): Grobbulus, Gluth, Thaddius.

Followed by a 1-shot annihilation of Heoric Naxxaramus(25 man): Sapphiron.

Our night of slaying was not yet at an end. A well deserved congratulations to all of our members, as we have completely cleared the zone with the dispatching of the final boss:

Heroic Naxxaramus(25 man): Kel'Thuzad

Heroic Efforts, Heroic Kills...

It was a pleasant day, making snow angels in the blight of dragons. Then all of the sudden, ALIENS!!! There was a giant spaceship in the sky opposing threat upon our lovely snow art.

So we entered into this foreign structure in the sky. We soon found this big, fat, stiched-pile of skin, who called himself Patckwerk (go figure, right?). Irony will play its role. By the end, after destroying all that he held close(his Stiches), he was in a serious need of patch-work.

Heroic:Naxxaramus(25 man) - Patchwerk Slain

With the abudundace of DK's on the server, we thought we would do our duty and rid them of this land. We quickly destroyed the entire DK Wing on Heroic:Naxxaramus(25 man). Taking down Instructor Razuvious, Gothik the Harvester, and The Four Horsemen.

Progress is becoming...

So we decided to try Heroic:Vault of Archavon(25man) this evening, since we finally had Wintergrasp. End results, we 21manned Archavon the Stone Watcher with an overpopulated healing force of 3.

Twas the night to be raiding,
A wing in our sight.

A plague is a brimming,
A Naxxaramas fright.

Trepidation depart our thoughts,
For the lot, was one-shot.

Earlier in the week we decided to obliterate another Heroic:Naxxaramas(25man) wing. We ventured into the Plague wing this time, and one-shot the entire wing(Noth the Plaguebringer, Heigan the Unclean, Loatheb).

Heroic Valor

So we decided to take a dip into some 25 man fun. We started with Heroic:The Obsidian Sanctum(25 man). With only 21 people in the raid, 4 healers, and a really sad paladin, we took down the decendant of penguins himself, Sartharion.

After that short venture, we decided to push our steam into Heroic:Naxxaramas(25 man). We quickly layed waste to the entire Spider Wing (Anub'rekhan, Grand Widow Faerlina, Maexxna).

Kel'Thuzad has been slain...

In a short amount of raiding time, we have decimated the 10man instance of Naxxaramas, completely clearing all of its content, as well as the ostrich grounded Dragon : Sartharion.

We are currently seeking a few more healers in order to push the 25man instance. If you are looking for a mature, relaxed setting, family oriented guild, please submit an application through this site.

Up and down, then back again

Sovereign has had a bumpy ride. With the release of Burning Crusade and 40 man raids suddenly becoming 25 man. With a flawed time/risk versus reward system that did not favor a raiding guild. Through encounters that required so much micro-management, attention to detail and prerequisites that became obsolete in the blink of an eye, it drove our poor raid leaders insane and infuriated, almost to a man. We have had our good times and bad. Still. a decade-old MMO legacy is not brought low easily, nor readily. We are here, and will be a guild I think long after WoW is reduced to the proverbial bargain-bin of online games.

We move forward into Wrath of the Lich King with a renewed vitality and sense of purpose, and see what the new expansion has to offer us in terms of entertainment and purple-named items. Most of all, we remain because of the people involved with us. We are family and friends, and regardless of circumstance, we will continue to pursue excellence and respectablity in whatever we choose to do.

Recruitment will open November 18th.
